Lucila Dance Productions
   is the creation of Lucila Velez:
   one of Austin’s favorite Ethnic Dancers.

   Over the years, Lucila’s 25 years of dance and instruction experience has introduced audiences and students to the beauty and benefits of dance.

   Her dedication to the art inspired her to open her own business and is now one of Austin’s crown jewels of Middle Eastern dancing.Within her South Austin business is a fully functioning dance studio where she teaches students of all ages, shapes, and backgrounds.

   Lucila’s Boutique offers one-of-a-kind costumes, dance wear, accessories, music, and jewelry. The Boutique also offers unique items imported from around the world such as drums, books, dancing props, and decorations. For the spiritually enlightened, the Boutique also carries a line of candles, oils, herbs, and incense.

Belly-Yoga - drills with Zills and combinations with Z'Helene

"Z-Helene is a world renowned zill (finger cymbal) player. She has developed an easy-to-learn technique that enables the belly dancer to play the zills fluidly while executing simple to complicated  movement. In this workshop, you will learn some of her signature dance and zill combinations. It will begin with a thorough warm-up  and end with a relaxing cool-down. Bring zills!"

   New Dance Class for Kids

A new dance class for kids teaching elements of belly dance, flamenco, salsa, and hip-hop will start Friday, July 11 and will be on-going.
Parents are welcome to participate.
6pm - 7pm at Lucila's Hill Country Studio
6 class session $60

   Poi (Fire Dancing) with Cary and Van

Offered Wednesdays from 7:30pm-9:00pm at Lucila's Dance Studio in South Austin located at 1700 South Lamar #316

You can bring a pair of socks with tennis balls for practice or we will have supplies available on site.

Curriculum for Class
Planes: vertical, horizontal, sides, in front
Fuel and Safety
Same direction moves (forward and backward, same, alternating):cross-over, 3-cnt. cross-weaves (5 types)
Side to side same direction moves involving wrist swivel (side-winders)
Horizontal moves(forward, backward, same, alternating): 2 types
Opposite direction moves(upward& downward):helicopters(6 types), butterflies, batwings
 
There are variations to each of these basic moves that I will show. This lets the student know that there are endless possibilities that stem from these basic foundational movements.
 
There will be a stretch/warm-up at the beginning of each class. Students may bring a yoga mat or towel.


   Guitar Lessons with Ahmed Garcia
Middle Easternishic/Spanishic Guitar and Glissentar Musician

Do you enjoy Midde Eastern and Spanish Guitar? Well, now is your chance. After teaching rock and roll guitar to kids for the past 2 years, Ahmed is ready to teach Middle Eastern/ Spanish Guitar, as well as any style.
Teaching beginning students the basics to advance students the fine art of Middle Eastern/Spanish Fusion Guitar. Electric guitar and Rock Guiyar lessons are also available.
Every Thursday from 10 am till 2:30 pm at Lucila's Dance Studio; 1700 South Lamar.
One on one 15 minutes lesson. Bring your guitar and your muse.

$15 for 45 minutes
$20 for 1 hour

   Hip Hop classes with Maestro

The class will be offered every Tuesday 7 to 8 PM.
Classes at Lucila's central location: 1700 S. Lamar.

"I will be teaching the Hip Hop dance class. My name is Michael Matson but people call me Maestro.
I will be teaching the fundamentals of Pop Locking. This includes various styles such as Popping, Locking, Ticking, Tutting, Waving, Robotting, Dime Stopping, Animation, and Strobing. Many styles of footwork will be taught as well, such as Glides, Slides, Walks, Floats, and Tricks. This style of dance will give the practitioner more body control and the isolation of each muscle. Balance and coordination will improve, as well as the ability to dance to any beat."

   Salsaerobics, Physical Fitness with a Flair

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
Combine the fun of the Latin Rhythms with a low impact aerobics workout with Lucila at her Central Location, 1700 South Lamar.

   Lucila Dance Studio will offer a dance class for children
This Dance Program is ongoing for ages 5 to 10.
Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6:00pm
and Fridays from 6:00 to 7:00pm

Classes include exercises, dancing to music from around the world, and games to increase attention span, develop positive self esteem, and build strength and flexibility.

Fee: $60 for 6 classes per six week period. $100 for 12 classes per six week period.

Full Moon Gatherings

Festivities begin at 7:00pm and end at 11:00pm unless noted.

   Lucila's New Hill Country Dance Space and Sanctuary

   I am happy to announce the New Space is now complete at the most beautiful site in Austin with a magnificent view of the Hill Country. Only 20 minutes from my Studio on S. Lamar. Lots of trees, secluded and private, where wonderful things will happen with wonderful people like YOU. The Dance Space is on the second floor, with beautiful, spacious wooden floors, sky lights, a great mirrored wall, and ample parking !! I can keep going, but you will see for yourself when it is completed. I plan to keep the S. Lamar location for your convenience and retail needs with a complete schedule of dance classes. I will also offer dance classes at my new location for the students that live close by, like many are now, and for Special Celebrations. Stay tuned for the latest details.
