   is the creation of Lucila Velez:
   one of Austin’s favorite Ethnic Dancers.
  Serving the Austin dance community since 1979

   Over the years, Lucila’s 30 years of dance and instruction experience has introduced audiences and students to the beauty and benefits of dance.

   Her dedication to the art inspired her to open her own business and is now one of Austin’s crown jewels of Middle Eastern dancing.Within her South Austin business is a fully functioning dance studio where she teaches students of all ages, shapes, and backgrounds.

   Lucila’s Boutique at the Hill Country Studio in southwest Austin offers one-of-a-kind costumes, dance wear, accessories, music, drums, and jewelry. Lucila also offers dance wear at the Galaxy.

Qigong and Ip Sun-Tai Chi with Jiajun Ou

Ip Sun ("Moving Meditation") is a Korean style of Tai Chi/Taijiquan that promotes relaxation, good posture, and balance in movement. Synchronized with deep breathing and mental awareness, Ip Sun cultivates health for the mind and body. This seminar will focus on standing and active qigong (Chinese for "energy work") to tune the awareness into the body, breath, and mind.

"POI" Fire Dance with Baruzula

Basic poi technique. Beginner moves, transitions, wraps, timing, rhythm.
Audience interaction, stage consciousness, safety, fuel knowledge and equipment options.
The first hour and a half of the class will be spent reviewing the above written curriculum and working with students as a group and one on one basis. The last thirty minutes will be reserved for performance critique, style recommendations and fire dancing.

All you need to bring is poi. Sock poi, glow poi, flag poi or kevlar poi. you just need to have something to spin with - Baruzula will have some extra ones to share or sell if you need a set.

August 8
Classic "Burlesque" Dance with Coco Lectric

Coco Lectric will teaches you how to release your inner burlesque starlet with an emphasis of classic dance techniques, statuesque poses and walks, and utilization of props all to sassy, swinging big band music. The class consists of a variety of stretches and warm-ups based on dance, pilates and yoga, followed by across the floor routines and a basic dance combination. Please bring high-heeled shoes and a sarong type of hip wrap.

August 15
Bellydance with Finger Cymbals - Zils - with Lucila
Learn the art of coordination on percussion with Zils combined with the Middle Eastern Dance.
Lucila will teach you the different patterns on how to play finger cymbals and have fun!
And how to dance with Zils utilizing the great music of "Light Rain"
Please bring a set of zils. Lucila will have some for sale.

Hip-Hop, Musicality with Maestro
"I will be teaching the Hip Hop dance class. My name is Michael Matson but people call me Maestro.
I will be teaching the fundamentals of Pop Locking. This includes various styles such as Popping, Locking, Ticking, Tutting, Waving, Robotting, Dime Stopping, Animation, and Strobing. Many styles of footwork will be taught as well, such as Glides, Slides, Walks, Floats, and Tricks. This style of dance will give the practitioner more body control and the isolation of each mu
scale. Balance and coordination will improve, as well as the ability to dance to any beat."

Lucila is starting a new kids program for this Summer starting on July 6 and 9. You can come once or twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. I hope you can be part of this six week Summer program!
Six week program from July 6 through through August 13
Class Fee:12 classes $97 or 6 classes $60

Classes include exercises, dancing to music from around the world, and games to increase attention span, develop positive self esteem, and build strength and flexibility. Elements of Hip-Hop, Flamenco, Latin, Bellydance,Ballet and Modern Dance will be added into the Classes and how to play  percussion instruments


   Guitar Lessons with Ahmed Garcia

Do you enjoy Midde Eastern and Spanish Guitar? Well, now is your chance. After teaching rock and roll guitar to kids for the past 2 years, Ahmed is ready to teach Middle Eastern/ Spanish Guitar, as well as any style.
Teaching beginning students the basics to advance students the fine art of Middle Eastern/Spanish Fusion Guitar. Electric guitar and Rock Guitar lessons are also available.
